Life Events

As a church at the heart of our community we are often asked to help people when they are looking to arrange special occasions, and as a non conformist chapel we welcome all:

  • a baptism to mark the birth of a new baby
  • a marriage service to receive a blessing on their special day
  • help in organising a funeral service after the death of a loved one

Baptism (Christening)

A baby’s birth is an occasion for great joy and celebration. Many people want to mark the occasion and surround that new life from the start with God’s blessing, as well as the love and support of family and friends.

Our minister is happy to chat to anyone looking for some guidance about how best to arrange their special service. Contact Jonathan on abernethysmile@hotmail.com

Wedding

You might be looking for a local church to get married in? Our chapel offers a beautiful, sacred space for this special event, and has been used by many couples through the years.

It’s best to get in touch initially with our Administrator to make sure your ideal date is available and to come for a viewing. After that, you’ll arrange to have a chat with the minister, who will guide you through marriage preparation and discuss the finer details of your wedding day.

Funeral

“I am certain that nothing can separate us from God’s love ….. nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.”  These are some of the words of Paul the Apostle.

It’s not something we tend to dwell on most of the time, but when we are devastated by the death of a family member or friend, many people want to be assured that their loved one has found their peace. Also, that they themselves might somehow find the strength to carry on.

Even in these sad circumstances families often want to “celebrate a life” and give thanks for shared love and experiences. Our minister has the privilege of spending time with the family to put together an appropriate tribute, as well as offering reassurance and hope during the service through prayer and the recollection of God’s promises in the Bible.
